The top trio in the Niederrheinliga have recorded easy victories. Now everyone is waiting for the next matchday, when RWO takes on RWE in the derby.
The wheat is currently being separated from the chaff at the top of the U19 Lower Rhine League. The leading trio of TSV Meerbusch, Rot-Weiss Essen and Rot-Weiss Oberhausen dominate the league.
This was also evident on this 20th matchday. RWE already put the pressure on their rivals on Saturday, defeating KFC Uerdingen 4:1, with Mamadou Barry the man of the day with three goals.
A good reaction to the top match defeat against Meerbusch one matchday earlier. “We worked through the game in Meerbusch during the training week and will give everything to score three points again against KFC,” said U19 coach Simon Hohenberg before the game.
Mission accomplished, but not enough for the top spot, as Meerbusch also did their homework. Dostlukspor Bottrop were never threatened in a 5:0 victory. The leaders led 2-0 after just seven minutes following goals from Furkan Yavuz and Kamil Kaya, with Nikitas Synolakis and a brace from Jiyan Alessio Karakis completing the scoring.
In addition to Meerbusch and RWE, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen also remain at the top of the table, with the Kleeblätter celebrating their tenth successive three-pointer at SG Essen-Schönebeck. The score was 6:1 after a one-sided 90 minutes. Here, too, everything was quickly clear, as RWO led 2-0 after eight minutes. The rest was a formality.
Now everyone is eagerly awaiting April 14, as the 21st matchday is coming up and with it the derby between Oberhausen and Essen – third against second.
Away from the top, SG Unterrath were without a game, while SpVg Schonnebeck turned around a deficit at Arminia Klosterhardt to win 3:2, with coach’s son Conor Tönnies scoring twice. With 19 goals, he is now just one goal behind his fellow Schonnebeck striker Arne Wessels, who leads the Lower Rhine League’s top scorers list
