RWE beats Schalke and wins the title – the live ticker to follow

Schalke 04, VfL Bochum, Rot-Weiss Essen, MSV Duisburg, Wuppertaler SV, Rot-Weiss Oberhausen and SG Wattenscheid will be sending their traditional teams into battle for the prestigious title in the Westenergie-Halle in Mülheim this Sunday. The Mülheim All Stars complete the field of participants. Have fun!

Rot-Weiss Essen – Schalke 04 3:1

1st minute: Kick-off

2nd minute: Erwin Koen has injured himself with a check into the boards and has to leave the pitch. Hot start to the final!

3rd minute: 1:0 through Thomas Denker! RWE take the lead.

5th minute: 2:0 through Marwin Studtrucker.

8th minute: Will Schalke come back here? The Royal Blues are certainly trying, but are barely getting through.

9th minute: 2:1 through Michael Ohnesorge. But now! Schalke make the connection.

13th minute: It’s getting more heated, the fouls are increasing. But so far everything is within reason.

15th minute: 3:1 through Thomas Denker. That could have been the preliminary decision. Only 39 seconds left on the clock.

It’s all to play for now. The final between Schalke and RWE is about to begin. It’s a rematch of the 2022 final, when Schalke came out on top. In today’s group stage, however, RWE won clearly with 5:2.

VfL Bochum will therefore take third place, with RWO finishing fourth.

Despite the defeat, RWO reached the semi-finals alongside VfL as group runners-up with four points thanks to the better goal difference compared to Wattenscheid 09.

One thing is certain: the Mülheim All Stars are out despite their strong performance, having collected just one point in their three group games. Schalke, on the other hand, will have to hope for help from RWE, who have already progressed, against Wuppertaler SV. WSV need a win to oust Schalke. But first it’s on to Group B.

The program starts, the Westenergie-Halle is well filled. It starts with a singing interlude before the defending champions Schalke and Rot-Weiss Essen provide the sporting opening.

Briefly about the format: the eight teams compete in two groups of four to progress, with the four best teams advancing to the semi-finals. Third place will be decided by a penalty shoot-out, with the final scheduled for 5.40 pm. Each match will last 15 minutes.
