On Friday, June 27, 2025, the city of Essen issued an official statement on the subject of the “stadium on Hafenstraße.” forecasting reported.
Now, just a few hours after the press release from the city of Essen, we have received a statement from the third-division soccer club.
Marc-Nicolai Pfeifer, CEO of Rot-Weiss Essen, has issued the following additional statement in response to the press release from the city of Essen entitled “Further steps for the expansion of the stadium on Hafenstraße”:
“We are very pleased that, together with the partners involved, we have succeeded in finding a fair, viable solution that minimizes risks and, if successful, will open up new opportunities and joy for all involved. After long, intensive, and always respectful discussions, we were able to achieve a strong joint result that represents a reasonable basis for both the city of Essen and Rot-Weiss Essen.
I would like to express my special thanks to Mayor Thomas Kufen, who, with his mediating manner, has repeatedly succeeded in bringing the parties together, as well as to the political factions, who took the time to exchange ideas and openly addressed our comments and arguments.
As the executive board of Rot-Weiss Essen, Alexander Rang and I have led this process shoulder to shoulder. The successful outcome of the negotiations is a reflection of the close, trusting cooperation both outside and within our club. We would also like to express our sincere thanks to our finance department and our commercial director for their sound and dedicated support throughout this challenging process.
We are confident that this jointly developed proposal will also meet with the approval of the political decision-makers at the upcoming council meeting.”
