The DFB has asked several clubs to pay up. Erzgebirge Aue, the upcoming opponent of Rot-Weiss Essen, is also affected.
The third division clubs Erzgebirge Aue and Waldhof Mannheim have to dig into their pockets for “misconduct” by their fans. Aue was fined 27,200 euros by the sports court of the German Football Association (DFB), while Mannheim must pay 24,300 euros.
The reasons: Aue supporters had put the investigators on notice with a total of four cases of unsporting behaviour around the home match against Dynamo Dresden (0:1) in the first half of the season. For example, 21 beverage cups and 15 lighters were thrown in the direction of the Dresden players. The verdict is now legally binding.
The Waldhof fans broke the rules on two occasions before and during the match against 1860 Munich (3:1), and were accused of setting off pyrotechnics, among other things.
Specifically, they were punished for setting off 31 fireworks, five smoke pots, a firecracker and a Bengal torch. In addition, the kick-off of the match was delayed due to these incidents and a beverage cup was thrown onto the pitch during the first half.
The Mannheim side move up to second place in the 3. Liga penalty table with a total of 64,585 euros. More fines are likely to follow after the huge fireworks before Monday night’s home game against SV Elversberg (2:1). Aue remain in first place with 111,950 euros.
League rivals SV Meppen will also have to pay 9100 euros for three instances of unsporting behaviour, again involving pyrotechnics and the throwing of objects. 1860 München was fined 350 euros – a firecracker was set off in the Munich spectator area. Compared to the other teams, the “Lions” still got off lightly here.
