RWE striker and Bielefeld professional a topic – what Janjic is doing at SC Verl

Sportclub Verl are continuing to work on their squad for the 2024/2025 season. Two former Verl players have been targeted by Sportclub.

With Nico Ochojski (SSV Jahn Regensburg), Luca Unbehaun (destination unknown) and Maximilian Wolfram (TSV 1860 Munich), SC Verl has lost three important players.

With goalkeepers Philipp Schulze (VfL Wolfsburg, on loan) and Marlon Zacharias (Borussia Dortmund U19) as well as defender Fynn Otto (Eintracht Frankfurt II) and midfielder Lukas Demming (Wuppertaler SV), four external additions have already been announced at Poststraße. More will follow.

Perhaps two of them will be returning players. Forecasting has learned that the Verler management around sporting director Sebastian Lange are looking at Ron Berlinski, who will not receive a new contract at Rot-Weiss Essen, and Aygün Yildirim, who is tied to Arminia Bielefeld until June 30, 2025.

According to our information, some top regional league clubs such as 1. FC Bocholt and TSV Steinbach Haiger are also interested in striker Berlinski. “Ron played a big part in helping us to stay in the league in 2021/2022. He’s a deserving player here in Verl. But I don’t know at this point whether we’ll come together,” commented Lange on the Berlinski transfer. The 29-year-old has scored eleven goals in 28 appearances for Verl. Perhaps more goals will be added soon.

Yildirim, also 29 years old and at home on the wings, was even more successful in Verl. His record: 73 games, 37 goals, 18 assists! But after his departure, he was not really happy in either Regensburg or Bielefeld. “The season didn’t go as expected for either Arminia or Aygün,” his advisor Daniel Neuber recently told the “Westfälische Nachrichten” newspaper, referring to the fact that his contract runs until the summer of 2025.

“Aygün is a player with whom we have always been in contact. We’ve heard rumors about him year after year. He has left his mark here. But is currently an Arminia Bielefeld player,” explained Lange.

SC Verl: Zlatko Janjic works together with Sebastian Lange

One player who knows his way around Bielefeld, Essen and Verl is ex-professional Zlatko Janjic. The 38-year-old former striker has long since ended his career and is retraining as a sports manager. He has been completing his 18-month practical part at Verler Poststrasse since January 2024.

“Zlatko is currently my most important contact. His opinion is very much in demand here. He’s an ex-striker who has seen and experienced so much. He knows exactly how the business works. I’m delighted to have him as my contact here in Verl,” says Lange.
