Rot-Weiss Essen has four long-term injured players. This is the status of the RWE quartet.
Michel Niemeyer, Thomas Eisfeld, Cedric Harenbrock and Simon Engelmann – these are the four long-term injured players at Rot-Weiss Essen. It was already clear weeks ago that the 2022 season would end prematurely for the quartet.
RWE will now enter the winter break in the 3rd league next Monday. After the match at 1860 Munich (14 November, 7 p.m.), coach Christoph Dabrowski will ask his team to train until Thursday in order to carry out some performance tests.
From 19 November to 7 December, the Bergeborbeckers are off, with the start of training scheduled for 8 December. The question is whether the coach will have the full squad available again from 8 December?
At the press conference before the Munich game, Dabrowski emphasised: “I definitely expect Thomas Eisfeld and Cedric Harenbrock back. They are currently already being included in our training. “
RWE: Eisfeld and Harenbrock are further along than Engelmann and Niemeyer
This means that both are further along than Engelmann and Niemeyer. In the case of the goal scorer, Dabrowski hopes for a full return in the course of the preparation: “Simon will probably do place rehab at the start. In the course of the preparation, I hope to be able to join the team training.”
Niemeyer is not venturing a prognosis at the moment. Since he moved to Essen in the summer of 2021, the left-back has been plagued by injuries. As a result, he has not even made a league appearance yet. Time and again it seemed as if he was close to a comeback – time and again there were setbacks. His coach reports: “There is still a question mark behind his return.”
Which certainly puts an enormous strain on the player after such a long period of suffering. That’s why Dabrowski is also in demand as a psychologist, as he confirms: “I’m always looking to talk to him. With something like this, you always have to keep your ear to the ground to pick up a player and build him up.”
Perhaps it will help to see the SV Wehen addition in an RWE shirt once again before his contract expires in the summer of 2023.
