On matchday 14 of the U17 Bundesliga West, league leaders Leverkusen lose two important points against BVB. Schalke consolidate their position at the top of the table, RWE shoot down Bielefeld.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen missed out on pulling away at the top on matchday 14 of the U17 Bundesliga West. First-placed FC Schalke 04 secured an important home win, while Rot-Weiss Essen were in a scoring mood.
In the clash between league leaders Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund, BVB overturned a 2-0 deficit. Francis Onyeka (16th, 28th) put Leverkusen into the lead with a brace in the first half. Ousmane Diallo (30) was able to score the equalizer before half-time. In the second half, Fritz Henri Fleck made it 2-2 with his goal in the 61st minute. The draw means Leverkusen remain top of the table with 34 points.
Meanwhile, FC Schalke 04 won 1:0 (1:0) against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Alan Takoudjou Somolinos scored the golden goal for the Royal Blues in the 33rd minute. The win saw Schalke consolidate second place in the table and the gap to leaders Leverkusen is now just two points.
VfL Bochum recorded their fifth win in a row against VfB Waltrop. Although Bochum fell behind early on thanks to a goal from Tyron Joe Uchenna Ohaji, Jan Honert (12), Jaden Kibbe (37), Luis Raphael Pick (66) and Ege Mikail Varil (90) scored to secure a 4:1 away win. VfL are now third in the table with 30 points.
RWE and SCP celebrate shooting festivals – derby win for Gladbach
In the match between SC Paderborn and Viktoria Köln, the Cologne side were dispatched 5:0 (3:0). Pedro Jose Restrepo Naranjo (7, 36, 39) scored a treble in the first half. The SCP did not let up after the break and added further goals with a brace from Luca Üstün (64′, 67′).
The derby between Borussia Mönchengladbach and 1. FC Köln went to Borussia 2:0 (2:0). Can Armando Güner (9th, 39th) was the match winner with his brace. The win was Gladbach’s third in a row. Previously, the “Foals” won 2:0 against Fortuna Düsseldorf and 3:1 against Borussia Dortmund.
RWE were at their best in the final game of the matchday between Rot-Weiss Essen and Arminia Bielefeld. The Essen side won 4:1 (3:1) with goals from Qi Xiang Leon Chen (15), Mats Preßler (32) and Boran Özbek (39, 53). The win was RWE’s sixth victory of the season. With a goal difference of 34:26 and 21 points, the team from Essen are in sixth place in the table
