The catch-up match in the Regionalliga West scheduled for Tuesday (November 14, 2023) has been canceled again.
After heavy rainfall on Monday (November 13, 2023), the pitch at Rheydt’s Grenzlandstadion is unplayable. The home match between the U23 team of Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach and Rot-Weiß Oberhausen must therefore be postponed again to an as yet unknown date. This is the second time the catch-up match has been canceled.
The city of Mönchengladbach has closed the Grenzlandstadion until further notice following the heavy rainfall. As a result, Mönchengladbach’s next match in the Regionalliga West is not expected to be played until Saturday, November 18 (2 p.m.) at home against Rot Weiss Ahlen.
Rot-Weiß Oberhausen will travel to FC Wegberg-Beeck next Saturday. RWO are in the quarter-finals of the Lower Rhine Cup and are ten points behind league leaders 1. FC Bocholt in the Regionalliga.
So will the club have to bury its ambitions for the 3rd division in the fall? After the recent 2-0 defeat against 1. FC Köln, Forecasting asked coach Jörn Nowak.
“Just as it was too early for me to look at the table after our good run, it’s too early for me now. We have to collect points from game to game,” said Nowak.
Nowak continued: “But it’s also a fact that we haven’t won five home games now, including losing the last two. With this home record, we don’t need to make any demands, we know that.” The aim now is to collect as many points as possible before the break. “And then we’ll see what the table looks like at Christmas and what our goals are for the second half of the season,” says Nowak.
At least there was some good news for all fans of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen at the start of the week. The rumor that top scorer Moritz Stoppelkamp could leave Lindnerstraße in the winter and head back to Westender Straße to MSV Duisburg was sent into the realm of fables by both the player and sporting director Patrick Bauder – Forecasting reported.
