The A Juniors of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen lost the derby against MSV Duisburg with 1:3. Coach Markus Kaya was not happy with the performance of some of the players.
The U19 of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen remains stuck in a relegation place after the 4th matchday in the A-Junioren Bundesliga West. The cloverleaves lost the neighbourly duel against MSV Duisburg with 1:3 and thus still only have three points on their account. Coach Markus Kaya was deeply disappointed after the game.
“That was a highly deserved victory for MSV Duisburg. There are no two opinions,” said the 42-year-old. “Even if we had managed a draw, that would have been very happy, but the difference in quality was simply too great.” The RWO coach was anything but happy with the performance of individual players in particular. “In my eyes, that was a difference in class today. “
Double substitution after 40 minutes without effect
Kaya made a double change after just 40 minutes and two new players were again sent onto the field at the start of the second half. “I have always said I accept defeats. That’s not a problem at all. The only question is how they come about. If a few people think that 60 or 70 per cent is enough in this league, then they have come to the wrong place. These were all performance-related changes,” the ex-professional explained.
According to their coach, the players lacked the basics in some cases. “It’s really the conviction that’s missing when I don’t have the quality, that I at least have the willingness to run, to fight duels and to go for second balls. We also made it too complicated and played Duisburg completely into the box.”
The Oberhausen team now has a little time to work through these issues before the next league match. The game at 1. FC Köln will not take place until 5 October. “We’re going to take a little break now to calm down a bit,” Kaya revealed. “We will discuss where to start in order to get better again in the next two or three weeks in the coaching team. In four weeks we will have two real challenges ahead of us. The way we are at the moment, it will be extremely difficult.
