Rot-Weiß Oberhausen has found a new coach for its second team. He takes over from long-time coach Sebastian Saß.
After the first half of the season, an era came to an end at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen II. After five years, coach Sebastian Saß announced his departure. His assistant Daniel Schliwa and sporting director Thorsten Binder also resigned their posts to make way for a new start.
A good two weeks later, it is clear who will be on the sidelines of “Team 2” in the second half of the season. Christian Dahlbeck is supposed to lead the cloverleaves to staying in the Kreisliga A.
“Due to the restructuring, we looked around for a new coach and with Christian we found someone who fits the profile well,” sporting director Patrick Bauder is quoted as saying about the signing. “We are looking forward to working together and have every confidence in Christian for his new task.”
Dahlbeck is no stranger to Oberhausen amateur football. Most recently, he coached the second team of Arminia Klosterhardt. In December, he announced his resignation from the district league team.
Now he is expected to lead the RWO reserves back to better times. In 2018, the team had competed in the Kreisliga C and had celebrated two promotions in a row. In the Kreisliga A, however, the Red and Whites were unable to build on these successes. In the last two years, they finished ninth and eleventh in the table. RWO is currently one point above the relegation places.
“I would like to thank RWO for giving me the opportunity to work for the biggest football club in Oberhausen,” said Dahlbeck, looking forward to his new task. “The goal can only be to stay in the league. To do that, we have to create cohesion again as quickly as possible, because we can only achieve this goal together and collectively. “
