The line-up for the Emscher Island Cup is impressive. 120 years of RWO – a tournament with attractive participants to mark the anniversary.
Rot-Weiß Oberhausen celebrates its 120th birthday in 2024 (December 18). A few months beforehand, there will be a tournament as part of RWO’s preparations that deserves a lot of spectators.
The “Emscher Island Cup” will be the highlight of the cloverleafs’ summer preparations. The information about the tournament, which takes place on July 13.
Field of participants
Four teams will take part in the Emscher Island Cup. In addition to RWO, FC Middlesbrough from Oberhausen’s twin city will also be taking part. Wuppertaler SV and KFC Uerdingen, two league rivals of the Cloverleafs, will also be competing for the title.
Procedure
At 11 a.m., the children’s festival will start with a children’s program organized by the YMCA, where everything revolves around the youngest RWO fans.
From 12 noon, it’s time to get down to business on the pitch. The game will be played in a one-on-one format.
To round off the day’s sporting action, another match will take place at 6pm. A selection from the soccer podcast Kick & Quatsch will meet the traditional team from the Kleeblätter. Who will be on the pitch for the red and white traditional team alongside Oberhausen’s “soccer god” Mike Terranova will be announced in the coming days. Following the traditional match, the club’s anniversary can be celebrated with a party at the Stadtsportbund grounds.
