Sandhausen apologises to HSV for false stadium announcement

SV Sandhausen has apologised for an incorrect stadium announcement congratulating Hamburger SV on their supposed promotion to the Bundesliga.

The stadium announcer had mistakenly assumed that HSV had been promoted after a shout-out, the team relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga announced on Sunday. “SV Sandhausen is aware of the risk and the consequences of such announcements and therefore apologises at this point to Hamburger SV and the fans in the stadium for the erroneous announcement,” the club wrote.

HSV had previously won 1-0 at Sandhausen. After the end of the match, “controlled access to the pitch” by Hamburg fans had taken place. In the meantime, however, the match of 1. FC Heidenheim was still in progress, who finally won 3-2 at SSV Jahn Regensburg thanks to two goals in injury time, thus pushing HSV into third place in the relegation table.
