Sandro Schwarz must go – Hertha brings returnee to the bench

The 2:5 loss at FC Schalke 04 cost Sandro Schwarz his job. His successor at Hertha BSC has also been decided and is an old acquaintance.

The hard-hit Bundesliga soccer team Hertha BSC has reacted to its fall to the bottom of the table and released coach Sandro Schwarz. As the new coach, Hertha veteran Pal Dardai is to lead the crisis-ridden club to the class preservation.

This emerges from consistent media reports on Sunday. The 47-year-old Dardai has already been head coach at the Old Lady twice and also worked as a youth coach and talent development coordinator at the traditional club.

On Friday evening, Hertha had lost 2:5 (1:2) at previous last-place Schalke 04 after a poor performance and had slipped to 18th place.

Afterwards, sports director Benjamin Weber had avoided making a commitment to Schwarz. Schwarz had taken over the team at the start of the season, his contract was valid until June 30, 2024.

Hertha has not won for six league games and is experiencing a highly turbulent season. At the end of January, the club had released Managing Director Sport Fredi Bobic. Bobic then filed a complaint against his dismissal with the labor court in February.
