Sascha Voelcke – the last internal RWE personnel decision has now also been made

Even before the Lower Rhine Cup final between Rot-Weiss Essen and Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, RWE has announced a decision on the last internal personnel matter.

Sascha Voelcke will no longer play for Rot-Weiss Essen in the coming season.

The 22-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is leaving Hafenstraße after three years. Following the departure of Cedric Harenbrock (destination unknown) and the extension of Nils Kaiser’s contract, the last internal personnel decision at Essen has now been made.

“Sascha has shown his potential in recent weeks. He wants to continue his development and sees another club as giving him a better chance of getting more playing minutes. We wish him every success in his new role and would like to thank him for his commitment to RWE,” explained Marcus Steegmann, Director of Professional Football at Rot-Weiss Essen.

Voelcke moved to Hafenstrasse from FC St. Pauli U23 in the summer of 2021. The left-footer has played a total of 51 competitive matches for RWE. He scored four goals and also contributed six assists.

According to information from forecasters, a number of third division clubs have been keeping an eye on the speedy left-footer and second division side Eintracht Braunschweig are also said to be considering signing Voelcke.
