The second team of SC Freiburg continues to cause a stir in the 3rd Football League.

On Friday, the team from Breisgau defeated Borussia Dortmund II 1:0 (0:0), consolidating its second place in the table and remaining the only first-placed team to follow leader SV Elversberg. However, the Freiburg team is not allowed to move up because the first team plays in the Bundesliga.

Yannik Engelhardt (66th) gave the Freiburg team the lead and secured their fifth win in a row. SC thus reduced the gap to Elversberg to six points, at least temporarily. The Saarlanders can close the gap again on Monday (19:00/MagentaSport) at Waldhof Mannheim.

The situation is different for BVB: Dortmund are only just outside the danger zone and could slip into a relegation spot as the 25th matchday progresses.
