Every month the best young player in the Bundesliga is chosen, the “Rookie of the Month”. In September, the award goes to a FC Schalke 04 professional.
Great honour for Tom Krauß. The FC Schalke 04 newcomer was voted “Bundesliga Rookie of the Month” for September. The nine-time Germany U21 international beat out Callum Hudson-Odoi of Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Bartol Franjic of VfL Wolfsburg.
Since his arrival from Leipzig in the summer, Krauß has been an integral part of the Royal Blue midfield. The 21-year-old, who spent the past two seasons on loan at 1. FC Nürnberg, played all eight games from the start and impressed in the centre of the field, especially with his diligence, tackling strength and intensity. Last week, the strong-running Leipzig native (10.9 kilometres per game) scored his first goal of the season in the 3-2 defeat against Augsburg.
“With Tom Krauß, we have been able to win one of the greatest German talents of his year for Schalke 04,” said S04 sports director Rouven Schröder when he signed him in the summer. Krauß is only on loan from RB. However, if the Königsblauen manage to stay in the league, they will be obliged to buy him for €3 million.
