Schenk stands out – victory against league leaders Fortuna Düsseldorf

Fortuna Düsseldorf is in the midst of a crisis. The second division leaders conceded their third defeat in the last four games against promoted Münster.

Second division leaders Fortuna Düsseldorf have made another mistake and are in danger of falling completely out of the promotion ranks on matchday eleven.

At the previous penultimate place Preußen Münster, the team of football coach Daniel Thioune conceded the 0:1 (0:1) the second defeat in a row and the third from the past four games. For the promoted Jano ter Horst (26th minute) secured important three points.

The second win of the season in front of 12,422 spectators in the sold-out stadium on Hammer Straße saw the team of coach Sascha Hildmann move up into a safe place for the time being.

Fortuna will remain top of the table at least until Saturday, but could be overtaken by three teams at the weekend.

Preußen keeper Johannes Schenk impresses

Last week, Fortuna had already lost 3-4 against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, and missed the opportunity to pull away at the top of the table. As against Kaiserslautern, Düsseldorf were the better team in Münster, but once again made a crucial defensive mistake. On top of that, Preußen keeper Johannes Schenk had a very strong day.

The outsiders took the lead with the first ball on target. Right-back ter Horst nodded in with his head, taking advantage of one of the league leaders’ all-too-frequent defensive errors. The Rhinelanders put constant pressure on the Preußen goal in the second half in particular, but were unlucky and sometimes lacked ideas.
