TuS Bövinghausen had already taken the lead in the top match against Westfalia Rhynern on Saturday. One day later, the first team in the chase went down. Meanwhile, Schermbeck continues to win.
It was already clear on Saturday evening that TuS Bövinghausen would remain top of the table after the 14th matchday of the Oberliga Westfalen. In the top match at Westfalia Rhynern, the promoted team won 2:0 and thus secured a buffer of four points on Rhynern.
SC Preußen Münster II was also four points behind due to the victory of Bövinghausen. Thus, SC Paderborn II’s only concern was to gain some breathing space and secure the second promotion spot. Kieran Schulze Marmeling’s team got off to a good start.
Deniz Bindemann, who has already made five appearances in the Regionalliga West this year, gave Münster the lead after 20 minutes. But Marlon Lakämper brought the hosts back into the lead with a seemingly misplaced cross that sailed over Roman Schabbing and into the net (36th). The winning goal was not to be scored. This increased TuS Bövinghausen’s lead at the top to three points.
Gütersloh squander 2:0 lead
Before the season started, FC Gütersloh would have been expected to be in the top group. But after a weak start to the season, FCG is chasing the field. Most recently, after three wins in a row, they suffered another setback with a 0:1 loss to Eintracht Rheine. This week, a response was needed – and at first everything looked good. Tim Manstein gave Gütersloh the lead against Sportfreunde Lotte before the break (45th).
Shortly after the break, Markus Esko increased the lead (50th). But Sportfreunde came back through Leon Schmidt and stayed in the game (55.). In the final phase, Julian Frommann scored to equalise 2:2 (82nd), but that was not enough: Schmidt had the last word, scoring his second goal to make it 3:2 for Sportfreunde Lotte (90th), and thus making the FCG’s slip-up perfect. Gütersloh missed the next chance to close the gap to the top. Lotte, meanwhile, gained some breathing space in the bottom of the table.
