Schlotterbeck double pack – how the second test against Vitesse Arnhem went

VfL Bochum appear to be ready for the rest of the Bundesliga season against Werder Bremen.

Bundesliga club VfL Bochum have completed their double test match. After the 2:1 win against FC Groningen, the team also scored against Vitesse Arnhem. The score was 2:0 (1:0) after 90 minutes.

Even if VfL coach Thomas Letsch doesn’t like the term A or B team, on Sunday against Arnhem the supposed first suit was on the pitch. It was important to the coach at the weekend that as many players as possible were able to play 90 minutes.

And looking at the line-up on Sunday, it can be said that this eleven would not surprise against Bremen. VfL took an early lead against the Dutch side.

Keven Schlotterbeck scored after just six minutes in front of 3549 spectators to make it 1:0 after Kevin Stöger’s corner was blocked. At the second attempt, Bochum’s number seven crossed better and found Schlotterbeck, who was able to get through in the five-meter area and score.

Arnhem then had two good opportunities before the break, while Christopher Antwi-Adjei missed a chance to increase VfL’s lead. After the break, things got busy after ten minutes, with Arnhem creating three chances in the space of a few minutes. But Bochum were able to defend their lead

Shortly afterwards, Philipp Hofmann had the 2:0 on his feet. A shot from Stöger was initially deflected by Antwi-Adjei and found its way to the striker. Hofmann’s first attempt was blocked, but Arnhem were able to clear the follow-up shot just in front of goal.

However, the second goal was scored shortly afterwards – and Schlotterbeck was again the scorer. After a cross from Antwi-Adjei, he rose highest next to Hofmann and nodded in.

VfL Bochum continue their Bundesliga campaign on Sunday (January 14, 3:30 pm) against SV Werder Bremen.
