Two challenging away games await MSV Duisburg in the 3rd division. On Saturday, Duisburg travel to Sandhausen.
After a quiet international break, MSV Duisburg have a double-header of away matches on the agenda. First, the Zebras will visit SV Sandhausen on Saturday (November 25, 2 p.m.) before playing a catch-up match at 1. FC Saarbrücken four days later (November 29, 7 p.m.).
As a reminder, the clash between Saarbrücken and Duisburg originally scheduled for October was canceled. Due to the nomination of key player Caspar Jander for the German U20 national team, the Zebras exercised their right to postpone the match. The make-up match will be played on Wednesday, but Sandhausen awaits first.
And only this game counts for coach Boris Schommers. The entire focus is on the game at SVS. Schommers is expecting a good opponent who have stabilized after the change of coach (from Danny Galm to Jens Keller):
“They’ve scored four times from their last five games and also put down an exclamation mark in the state cup (4:1 against Mannheim, editor’s note). Sandhausen are currently in the upper midfield of the table. I don’t want to judge what their own standards are. For us, it’s an opponent who are certainly defending better and more compactly against the ball, but who have also scored a few goals in recent games. Our clear objective should therefore be to go for goals in this game. We want to force a goal or two. “
The team is alive, intact and willing! It wants to go the hard way together. Our process has only been running for six weeks. We’re on the way to where I want to be.
Boris Schommers
Since Schommers took over, there is clearly room for improvement. There have been no wins in five competitive matches, but four defeats – always with a one-goal difference. The 44-year-old is confident that the knot will soon burst: “The team is alive, intact and willing! It wants to take the difficult path together. Our process has only been underway for six weeks. We are on the way to where I want to be. We are always taking small steps. It would be very, very positive if, in addition to the good training impressions, we also had a sense of achievement in a championship match. “
