MSV Duisburg has two challenging away games in the 3rd division. On Saturday, the Duisburg team will travel to Sandhausen.
After a quiet international break, MSV Duisburg has a double away game on the program. First, the Zebras will be guests at SV Sandhausen on Saturday (November 25, 2 p.m.), before the postponed game at 1. FC Saarbrücken is scheduled four days later (November 29, 7 p.m.).
As a reminder, the original October date for the clash between Saarbrücken and Duisburg was canceled. The Zebras exercised their right to reschedule the game after key player Caspar Jander was named in the German U20 national team squad. The postponed game is then set for Wednesday, but Sandhausen awaits beforehand.
And only this game counts for coach Boris Schommers. All the focus is on the game at SVS. Schommers expects a good opponent who have been able to stabilize after the change of coach (from Danny Galm to Jens Keller):
“They have scored four times in their last five games and have also made a strong statement in the regional cup (4-1 against Mannheim, editor’s note). Sandhausen are currently in the upper midfield of the table. I don’t want to judge what their own expectations are. For us, it’s an opponent who certainly defends better and more compactly against the ball now, but where a few goals have been scored in recent games. Our clear goal should therefore be to go for goals in this game. We want to force one or two goals.”
The team is alive, intact and willing! They want to go the hard way together. Our process has only been running for six weeks. We are on the way to where I want to go.
Boris Schommers.
Since Schommers took office, the balance sheet is clearly expandable. In five competitive games, there was no victory, but four defeats – each always by a one-goal difference. The 44-year-old is confident that the knot will soon burst: “The team is alive, intact and willing! They want to go the hard way together. Our process has only been running for six weeks. We are on the way to where I want to go. We are always taking small steps. It would be very, very positive if, in addition to the good training impressions, we also had a sense of achievement in a championship game.”
