Leo Scienza has gradually established himself in top-flight professional soccer. He is currently a regular at Southampton FC, but would always prefer Schalke 04.
Anyone who has followed Leo Scienza’s development will hardly be surprised by the current season. Last summer, Scienza joined Southampton FC, which had just been relegated to the English second division.
And he did what he has always done in the past. Scienza secured a place in the starting lineup and has not relinquished it since. In 23 competitive games for Southampton FC, he has scored three goals and provided four assists.
“There is definitely more to come, I’m not satisfied. But it’s okay so far, after all, I moved to a new country and a new club. I was allowed to play right away and was almost always in the starting lineup. I’ve scored a few goals and provided a few assists, but with my abilities and qualities, it could be a lot more. We’re not consistent as a team at the moment. It’s always easier for a player when the team is doing well,“ Scienza said in an interview with ”transfermarkt.de.”
Southampton is the next chapter in a career that began with his move from Fanna BK in Sweden to FC Schalke 04 II in Germany in late summer 2020. In two years, Scienza, himself an avid Schalke fan, has scored 15 goals and provided 17 assists in 59 regional league games.

However, Schalke missed several opportunities to sign the outstanding offensive player in the fourth division. According to information obtained by this editorial team, Königsblau Scienza could have signed or acquired him a total of three times.
Now he has outgrown the Royal Blues for the moment, has proven his first division caliber in Germany, and is earning good money in England. And yet a return to the Royal Blues is omnipresent. He has made that very clear.
“The only thing I didn’t want in my career was to leave Schalke. I was very sad about that because, as a Schalke fan, I really wanted to stay with the club I love. My biggest dream in life is to play professionally at the Veltins-Arena for a year at some point. I had two wonderful years in the U23s, but unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to play in the first team at the time. If Schalke were to call, we’d have to talk (laughs).”
Clear words that the Royal Blues’ fans are sure to like. Schalke already has one fan in its own ranks in Timo Becker. Scienza wants to be the next one someday.
