SuS Haarzopf is spending the winter in a respectable 5th place in the Bezirksliga Group 6 in the Lower Rhine region. Coach Matthias Walter is also satisfied with this.

Fifth place at the halfway point of the season. Those in charge at Föhrenweg can be satisfied with that. On December 30, 2025, coach Matthias Walter will ask the SuS Haarzopf team to start their winter preparations.

Before the battle for points resumes in the Lower Rhine District League Group 6, Haarzopf will play four test matches. On January 6 (7:30 p.m., A) at SC Werden-Heidhausen, on January 11 (2 p.m., H) against SV Höntrop, on January 18 (3:15 p.m., A) against Sportfreunde Niederwenigern, and on January 25 (12 p.m.) against SC Frintrop.

Matthias Walter, how would you assess your team’s first half of the season?

Overall, we are satisfied with the first half of the season. The team has developed very well in a short period of time, but at the same time we know that we still have a lot of potential.

What has been the highlight for you so far?

I deliberately don’t want to single out one highlight. For me, the biggest highlights are the moments when the guys put what they’ve learned in training into practice in the game and are successful as a result. If I had to pick one thing, the Christmas party at the “AAA” clubhouse in Haarzopf was of course a very special highlight. And what was the most negative experience?

Right at the start of the season, we had to contend with a number of injuries and at times were left with only a very small squad. That was certainly a big challenge.

Will there be any changes to the squad during the winter break?

In Marvin Pape, we have signed an external player who will also help us beyond this season. In addition, three long-term injured players are returning, whom we will carefully reintroduce to the team and who will give us additional options with their quality. What is your goal for the rest of the season? We want to approach our tasks even more courageously and collect as many points as possible.
