Rot-Weiß Oberhausen continue to plan for the new season. Ahead of Saturday’s Lower Rhine Cup final against RWE, addition number two has been unveiled
After seven departures – Rinor Rexha, Tobias Boche, Glory-Matonda Ngyombo, Tim Stappmann, Oguzhan Kefkir, Christian März (all destination unknown) and Fabian Holthaus (RW Ahlen) are leaving RWO – Rot-Weiß Oberhausen have now presented their second addition in the space of two days.
After winger Leon Kayser, who moved to Oberhausen from SV Bergisch Gladbach, the Cloverleafs have brought in another player from the Oberliga.
As previously reported by RS, Luca Thissen has joined RWO from VfB Homberg. “I’ve been in contact with Luca for a year and it finally worked out on the third attempt. The fact that he has already been given the captaincy in his second senior season speaks volumes for his personality on and off the pitch. With his qualities, Luca undoubtedly belongs in the Regionalliga and we can count ourselves lucky that he has chosen to play for us Kleeblätter,” explained Oberhausen’s sporting director, Dennis Lichtenwimmer-Conversano.
The central midfielder was trained at Fortuna Düsseldorf, where he came through all the youth teams and finally made his debut in the Regionalliga West last season with the U23s (five appearances). In the current season, he has played for SV Straelen and Homberger. The 21-year-old has scored six goals and provided four assists in 29 games in the Oberliga Niederrhein.
The player emphasized after signing: “I’m looking forward to the coming season and the challenge of playing a league higher. After my first senior year, in which I was injured for a long time, it was important for me to be able to finish this year well and continuously and to attack again. My goal is to play a good season together with the team and the fans. “
