FC Schalke II has parted with two centre-backs during the current winter break.
In the Regionalliga West, the U23 of FC Schalke is in a reassuring seventh place – with a large gap to the relegation places.
In the winter, the squad will be somewhat readjusted. Two centre-backs left the team last week. David Lelle is moving to the second team of Holstein Kiel. The Kiel reserve team currently occupies 13th place in the Regionalliga Nord. In the summer of 2022, Lelle moved from RB Leipzig to the Knappenschmiede U23. Under coach Jakob Fimpel, Lelle made ten appearances in the Regionalliga West.
In addition to Lelle, Tjark Scheller will also leave Schalke. The central defender is also moving north – to the U23 of FC St. Pauli. Scheller had moved from Holstein Kiel to the Knappenschmiede’s U19s in the summer of 2019. He played 25 competitive games for Norbert Elgert’s team. He then made 31 appearances for the S04 U34s.
In addition to the two transfers, FC Schalke’s U23s also played. Last weekend, there was a 4-0 win against BSV Rehden. Daniel Kyerewaa scored the first two goals and Niklas Castelle and Bogdan Shubin also scored. “It wasn’t a firework display, but a solid and confident test match win. We had good attacks forward, whenever we played fast it became dangerous,” explained coach Jakob Fimpel.
The next test is on Saturday (21 January, 12 noon) against SG Wattenscheid. The game will be played on the artificial pitch at the Parkstadion.
The league continues for the Knappen on Saturday (4 February, 2 pm) against SV Rödinghausen.
