FC St. Pauli have celebrated their ninth win in a row and are moving closer to the relegation places. For SV Sandhausen, it is getting close to staying in the relegation zone.
FC St. Pauli can still get into the promotion race in the 2nd Bundesliga by extending their winning streak. The best team in the second half of the season celebrated its ninth victory in the ninth game under its coach Fabian Hürzeler against relegation candidates Jahn Regensburg with a 1:0 (1:0) and moved up to fourth place in the promotion zone.
Regensburg remain stuck in the relegation mire with their tenth away defeat. The Bavarians fell behind promoted Eintracht Braunschweig, who recorded a 1-1 (1-0) draw at Karlsruher SC, after two previous defeats. SV Sandhausen, meanwhile, were unable to raise their hopes of staying in the relegation zone after losing 3-1 (1-1) at Hannover 96 despite leading 1-0.
St. Pauli, however, needed an own goal by Prince Owusu (23rd) to continue their run against Regensburg. Now only six points behind third-placed local rivals Hamburger SV, the Kiez club, still undefeated on their own pitch, are now within sight of relegation.
Braunschweig missed their second win in a row at KSC. Lion Lauberbach (4th) gave the Lions an early lead, but after Karlsruhe’s equaliser through Leon Jensen (69th), the former champions are only one point clear of the relegation place and the first promotion spot. The visitors also lost goalkeeper Jasmin Fejzic to a yellow card for bleating. KSC at least avoided its second defeat in a row.
Sandhausen were also unable to end their negative streak in Hannover. In eight games without a win, the SVS only managed two points. Christian Kinsombi (14.) scored the opening goal for the visitors. Maximilian Beier (45.+2) equalised shortly before the break. Derrick Köhn (61st) and Louis Schaub (88th) scored the goals for the victory of the hosts. Hannover ended a negative streak of nine games without a win with the victory.
