Setback – Marvin Obuz will not return to training camp

A familiar face joined the visitors at third-division club Rot-Weiss Essen’s training session on Wednesday afternoon on the grass pitch behind the LaVital Sport- und Wellnesshotel. Injured RWE pro Lucas Brumme took the opportunity to visit his teammates at their training camp in Wesendorf.

The 25-year-old can now walk without crutches after tearing ligaments in his ankle, which is a slight improvement for Brumme, who will be out for around four weeks. The left-footed player will now continue his rehabilitation process alongside his teammates.

It won’t be as long for Marvin Obuz (23). However, it is still unclear when exactly the returnee will be able to actively participate again. The offensive player will not be on the pitch this week. The RWE officials do not want to take any risks with Obuz. The pain in the groin area, which has been bothering the 23-year-old since the test match in Scotland, does not yet allow him to return to training.

Rot-Weiss Essen: Marvin Obuz will not be playing in the training camp The Essen club had originally hoped that Obuz would return during the training camp. He has been receiving intensive treatment at the hotel since his arrival. However, he has not yet been able to swap his trainers for football boots.

Friendly match: RWE - Fortuna Cologne

Missing the training camp is a setback for the talented right winger, who joined Hafenstraße from 1. FC Köln. After a year without playing, every week of training counts to get Obuz back to his old level. There is not much time left before the start of the season on August 1 against 1860 Munich. Things went better on Wednesday for Jannik Hofmann and Torben Müsel. Both were able to train without restrictions in the morning and are available to coach Uwe Koschinat for Friday’s friendly against second division side 1. FC Magdeburg (2 p.m.). This game comes too early for Michael Kostka, but the right-back is making progress after his thigh strain and is already working intensively with the ball on an individual basis.

Rot-Weiss Essen: Friendly match in Magdeburg on Friday

The match at the MDCC Arena will also mark the end of Essen’s training camp. On Thursday, the RWE pros will only have one training session in the morning to avoid overdoing it before the tough test.
