On Sunday (4pm), SGS Essen can take a big step towards staying in the relegation zone in the Women’s Bundesliga.
DIe SGS Essen wants to stay out of danger in the Women’s Bundesliga. That is why the Essen women want to land an important treble against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday at the stadium on Hafenstraße.
After the 0:6 defeat in the first leg, they also want to take revenge. “Leverkusen have gained a lot of self-confidence with their last-minute win against Meppen and the 2-0 win against Freiburg. They have stabilised and can now play freely,” emphasises SGS coach Markus Högner.
Högner adds: “We have to go to our performance limits again on Sunday if we want to score against this strong and technically good team. The basis then is once again good defensive behaviour.”
SGS Essen has shown time and again in recent games that it can do that. The coach relies on the tried and tested: “From a compact defensive unit, then play quickly forward.”
In terms of personnel, the coaching team can draw on a full complement: “Apart from the long-term injured, everyone is fit. Ella Touon is also back in the squad after her 5th yellow card. “
