SGW reports annual profit and aims to enter the regional league

SG Wattenscheid held its annual general meeting. There was positive news and a new supervisory board.

Things are going really well for SG Wattenscheid 09 this season. After 15 games, SGW leads the Oberliga Westfalen table. And at the annual general meeting, the club was able to report positive figures. Last year, there was a loss of around €105,000, but last season saw a profit of around €97,000. At the end of this season, the club is expected to break even. As of June 30, 2025, old liabilities amounted to €154,948.71. The following were also elected: Christian Arnold (law firm on Wattenscheider Hellweg), Jörg Döllekes (Härterei Reese), Carsten Dubberke (Buschenhofen & Partner), Christian Machholz (NTG), Coskun Özdemir (CO Schweisstechnik), and Darius Pradella (ImmoTec) form the new supervisory board of the 09ers. Another positive development is that the traditional club has made significant gains in the area of sponsorship. This development should lead to SG Wattenscheid spending its future back in the Regionalliga West.

This clear goal was emphasized at the general meeting. According to Wattenscheid’s sporting director Richard Weber, who would not be opposed to immediate promotion, this goal should be achieved by next season at the latest. “Of course, we want to remain in one of the two promotion spots for as long as possible.”

The team currently has a six-point lead over third place. In the Oberliga Westfalen, the top two teams are promoted to the Regionalliga. This is a nice cushion for coach Christopher Pache’s team. This cushion could grow even larger this weekend if SGW wins the top match against ASC Dortmund on Saturday (3:30 p.m.).

A win against the fourth-placed team would be a statement that could put ASC twelve points behind, although Dortmund has played one game less.
