Regionalliga promoted 1. FC Bocholt will have to do without Gino Windmüller for the next few months. The search for a replacement is already underway.
Bitter news for 1. FC Bocholt: The promoted team will have to do without Gino Windmüller for a long time. The newcomer has to be operated on due to a torn tendon in his foot, the operation will take place today, Tuesday. The Bocholt team expects Windmüller to be out for three to four months, which means he will probably miss almost the entire first half of the season.
“The loss of Gino is of course a shock for us. We hope that he will be back as soon as possible,” said Bocholt’s sporting director Marcus John in a club statement. “But we won’t rush things and will give him the time he needs. “
1st FC Bocholt are now looking for a centre-back
Windmüller had only moved to 1. FC this summer from VfR Aalen. With his experience of over 273 appearances in the Regionalliga (including for Rot-Weiss Essen, Wuppertaler SV) and 59 third division games, he was supposed to help the club from the Lower Rhine to stay in the league. Now, John and his team are looking for a replacement for their central defence before the transfer window closes in just over a month.
Windmüller missed the start of the season last weekend. The Bocholt team had a sobering start to the season – they lost 3-1 at fellow promoted team 1 FC Düren. Next Saturday (2 p.m., RS-Liveticker), Fortuna Düsseldorf’s U23 will play their first home match of the season at the Hünting.
