Bitter news for SC Verl: After the number one, the season is also over for a key player in the defence.
Only a few days ago, SC Verl announced that Niclas Thiede would no longer be in the Verl goal this season.
The number one of the East Westphalians, who is one of the best goalkeepers in the 3rd division and played 27 games for Verl, injured himself during a save in the away game (3:1) at SV Meppen and will have to take a break for several months. The 23-year-old goalkeeper Thiede was diagnosed with a torn syndesmosis ligament.
And now it is even more bitter for the Sportclub and again it is a syndesmosis ligament tear. This time it was Luca Stellwagen. The left-back suffered the injury in the 3:3 draw in Duisburg after a duel with Marlon Frey.
Next bad news for SC Verl: After regular keeper Niclas Thiede, Luca Stellwagen is also out for the rest of the season. The East Westphalians made the announcement on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Stellwagen played 22 matches in the current season (one goal, one assist).
At least SC Verl is in the midfield of the table with 39 points ten matchdays before the end of the season and thus twelve points from the first relegation spot. It is hardly conceivable that Michel Kniat’s team will slip down again due to the good and stable performances of Kniat’s team.
On Saturday (25 March, 2 p.m.), the Verlers will welcome the league leaders Spielvereinigung Elversberg. The Saarland side has been in a results crisis for the past five games – no wins, four draws, one defeat – and could currently be up for grabs. With another win, SC Verl should be able to put an end to the last relegation worries, if they exist at all among those responsible for the team.
