After the final whistle, the 56-year-old ran across the Anfield Road pitch looking for it, before a cameraman handed the piece of jewelry back to him. “I was a little too lively,” said Klopp, “I was in a state of shock. But it’s back.”

The cameraman had “annoyed him a few times this season, but now he has a lot of footage, because this was really important,” said the German coach. He had now found a “friend for life”. Klopp married his wife Ulla in 2005, and he was now missing the wedding ring for the second time.

“I lost it once, and I needed a professional diver because I lost it in the sea,” said the successful coach. ”It happens from time to time when I lose a pound or two.”
