Sidi Sané likely to move within the 2nd Bundesliga

Sidi Sané no longer had any prospects at FC Schalke 04 this season. The youngster is now likely to move to another second-division club.

Sidi Sané is about to move to a second-division rival of FC Schalke 04. The 20-year-old is expected to join Eintracht Braunschweig. Transfermarkt.de reported first. According to the report, Sané will apparently not leave Schalke on loan, but completely – and free of charge.

His contract at Schalke actually runs until the summer of 2024, and Sané had recently been linked with third-division club Arminia Bielefeld for a loan. Bielefeld sporting director Michael Mutzel, however, had already said last week that the transfer was unlikely to materialise.

Sidi Sané, brother of former Schalke international Leroy Sané, was promoted from the Königsblauen youth team to the men’s team last summer. Primarily, however, the attacking player was only used in the regional league team, but once Sané was allowed to play 24 minutes in the Bundesliga – against FC Bayern München, of all teams.

Even after relegation, Sané would have had a difficult time at Schalke, so it was clear early on that the Essen native would probably leave the club. Sané scored seven goals in the Regionalliga and was one of Schalke’s best attackers, but even here in the fourth division he kept diving.

Schalke: Quick reunion with Sané would be possible

If Sané were to move to Braunschweig, a reunion would soon be possible – and even twice. On 11 August, Schalke will host Eintracht in the first round of the DFB Cup, and a week later (20 August) the third matchday of the second division season will be played at the Lower Saxony club. Possibly then with Sané in the kit of the Braunschweig Lions. For Sané, who has both German and French citizenship, it would then be about getting his career back on track.
