SSVg Velbert suffered a clear home defeat in the Regionalliga West. Sportfreunde Siegen, on the other hand, jumped to first place.
SSVg Velbert remains the only winless team in the Regionalliga West after the sixth match day. At home against FC Gütersloh, they suffered a clear 0:3 (0:2) defeat.
FCG posed the greater threat in a generally uneventful first half and was also the dominant team after 20 minutes. Kandic had the best chances, with his first attempt narrowly missing the target (19th minute) and the other being decisively deflected by Frieling – Lenz would have been beaten (38th minute).
However, it was the impressive Langfeld who put the visitors ahead. After a ball from the left, he was in the right place at the right time and slotted home from close range to make it 1-0 (40th minute) – a deserved half-time lead.
Shortly after the restart, the knockout blow came: Liehr controlled a through ball in the box, cut inside and made it 2-0 (47′). Twardzik sealed the deal with his sixth goal in six games after an hour (62′).
SSVg failed to mount a comeback; on the contrary, Lenz prevented an even heavier defeat in the closing stages.
FC Gütersloh climbs to second place in the table for the time being, while Velbert could slip to last place if 1. FC Köln’s second team picks up a point.
Regionalliga West: Sportfreunde Siegen jump to first place
In the second game on Friday evening, Sportfreunde Siegen secured a 2-0 (2-0) away win against SC Paderborn’s second team.
Kader put the visitors on the road to victory with a direct free kick goal (15th minute) – his fifth goal of the season. Oubeyapwa scored the 2-0 (36th minute) with a header before the break.
Siegen is now in first place with 14 points from six games.
