Sportfreunde Siegen are the first winners of the 15th matchday in the Oberliga Westfalen. The Siegen team celebrated a 3-0 derby victory against TuS Erndtebrück.
On Friday evening, Sportfreunde Siegen and TuS Erndtebrück opened the 15th matchday of the Oberliga Westfalen. The home side kept the clear upper hand in the derby in the Siegerland with 3:0 (2:0) in the end.
It was an important match for both teams in the relegation battle. After 90 minutes, the team from Siegen was happy to have temporarily climbed above the top of the league and past the team from Erndtebrück, which slid further towards the relegation places with its second defeat in a row.
The hosts got off to a flying start at the Leimbachstadion. Attacker Michel Harrer (3rd, 6th) gave Sportfreunde an early 2:0 lead, and in the second half Benit Dinaj (52nd) made Siegen’s fourth win of the season clear – the third in their own stadium.
“Compliments to the team, we allowed very little and could have decided the game after twelve minutes. We’re happy to take the win, which is good for everyone,” Siegen coach Lirian Gerguri said on Instagram about the derby victory.
Top quartet around TuS Bövinghausen on Sunday
The rest of the league completes the 15th matchday on Sunday. And especially at the top of the table it is really tight. The first four in the table are separated by just four points. In the remaining three games until the winter break, missteps can be costly.
Top of the table TuS Bövinghausen welcomes SpVgg Vreden (12th). With three wins behind them, the league leaders want to take the next step towards the autumn championship. Vreden and its rival Preußen Münster II, who host TSG Sprockhövel, will also want to prevent this from happening.
The other members of the top quartet are also challenged. Victoria Clarholz (3rd) must travel to ASC 09 Dortmund, while Westfalia Rhynern in fourth place also wants to keep in touch with the top positions against Eintracht Rheine.
The remaining games on Sunday:
1st FC Gievenbeck – Sportfreunde Lotte
FC Gütersloh – TuS Ennepetal (both 2.30 pm)
SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl – SC Paderborn II (3 p.m.)
SV Schermbeck – Delbrücker SC (4 p.m.)
