Signing fixed – BVB II snaps up MSV Duisburg player

MSV Duisburg are on the brink of relegation to the Regionalliga West. To date, only three players have known what the future holds for them. Now a fourth player is joining them.

Four match days before the end of the season in the 3rd division, MSV Duisburg are eight points behind the safety of the drop zone. They still have to play Sandhausen, Lübeck, Aue and Dresden. It is extremely unlikely that MSV will avoid the drop to the Regionalliga.

To date, only three players – Caspar Jander, who will move to 1. FC Nürnberg in the 2nd Bundesliga from July 1, 2024, as well as Batuhan Yavuz and Maximilian Braune, who also have contracts with MSV for the 4th division – knew what would happen to them after the current disastrous season.

Now player number four has been added: As this editorial team has learned, 19-year-old Baran Mogultay is moving to Borussia Dortmund’s U23 team. BVB will then officially present left-back Mogultay as an addition on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Mogultay has played for MSV Duisburg since 2017 and has been part of the professional squad of the third-division bottom club since July 1, 2022. In the current season, the German-Turk has made 15 appearances (playing time: 1193 minutes) in the 3rd division. He has played a total of 44 competitive matches (no goals, no assists) for the Meiderich side. Mogultay’s advisor, Mehmet Eser, emphasized to Forecasting back in January 2023 that his protégé would definitely not extend his contract in Duisburg when it expired.

The original goal was the Bundesliga 2. Eintracht Braunschweig and SV Darmstadt are also said to have expressed interest right up to the end. However, Borussia Dortmund II have now been awarded the contract. This means that Mogultay will definitely remain in the 3rd division.

It was only on Tuesday that Dortmund’s second team announced the extension of captain Franz Pfanne’s contract. Forecasting reported.
