Marius Bülter leaves Schalke 04 after two intense years and moves to TSG Hoffenheim. His strike partner reacts emotionally.
Marius Bülter (30) does not have to fear that people will resent his move from FC Schalke 04 to TSG Hoffenheim. The striker signed a contract with the Bundesliga club this week until 2026, his time at Schalke coming to an end after two turbulent years of ups and downs.
During that time, Bülter often striked alongside Simon Terodde. The Schalke goal scorer understands Bülter’s decision to leave the Königsblauen after relegation despite having a current contract. “You deserve to keep playing Bundesliga,” Terodde wrote in his Instagram story.
The Schalke striker, who surprisingly decided to extend his contract in Gelsenkirchen after relegation, posted a shared jubilant photo from the promotion year and accompanied it with some emotional words directed at Bülter. Terodde thanked Bülter for the last two years and praised him for his commitment. “Emotions, passion and always 100 per cent on the pitch! You could be relied on in every situation. Especially the last six months were outstanding, you gave everything for Schalke.”
For his old employer, the switch is worthwhile, at least financially. Bülter still had a contract at Schalke until 2025, including bonuses, the transfer fee can amount to up to 4 million euros. According to RS-Infos, he will earn twice as much in Hoffenheim as he did at Schalke. Bülter earned this lucrative contract through a strong last season. With eleven goals, he was the most successful scorer for Schalke. Nevertheless, he was unable to prevent the relegation of the Revierklub. However, the dynamic winger will remain in the Bundesliga.
“Sometimes in life you are faced with difficult decisions. The decision to leave Schalke 04 was anything but easy for me because I loved every second of playing for this club,” said Marius Bülter a few hours after his announced departure for Hoffenheim.
