Borussia Mönchengladbach II has claimed its first win of the season. The Foals’ youngsters won 4:2 at SV Rödinghausen.
First win of the season and in this form: The U23 reserve of Bundesliga team Borussia Mönchengladbach decided the six-goal spectacle at SV Rödinghausen in their favour with 4:2.
“That was an extremely important victory. I had the feeling that the team wanted it badly. They have rewarded themselves for the past few weeks. On this day, it is not so important how the game went, but rather that we were able to take three points,” Gladbach II coach Eugen Polanski summed up.
The Borussians did not get off to a good start and were trailing 0:1 and 1:2. But time and again, Mönchengladbach came back. Before the break, Borussia managed to score the 2:2.
After the change of ends, things went even better for Gladbach’s youngsters. “I have to give my team a big compliment. They learned from their mistakes of the past weeks, only allowed one shot on goal and created much better passes in their own possession,” praised Polanski.
Mika Schroers, who only scored the 2:2 before the break, also gave the little Foals the lead after the break. Ingyom Jung then made everything clear in a tight game in injury time. On Sunday (3 September, 2 p.m.), Borussia’s U23s face the derby against the youngsters of 1. FC Köln.
