BVB are reliant on a Bayern slip-up in the Bundesliga season finale. Sky pundit Didi Hamann nevertheless bets on Dortmund.

It is not a wishful constellation for Borussia Dortmund. Before the last two games in the Bundesliga, the Revierklub needs help to topple the serial champions FC Bayern Munich.

This can either come from RB Leipzig on Saturday (18:30, Sky) or from 1. FC Köln on the last matchday. Borussia must also do their homework on Sunday (17:30, DAZN) at FC Augsburg and in the final against FSV Mainz 05.

Former international footballer Didi Hamann nevertheless believes Borussia Dortmund have a great chance of winning the title in the final sprint for the German championship. “If BVB wins its last two games, they will be German champions. I’m convinced of that,” the former Munich professional wrote in his Sky column.

The former midfielder added that Bayern had seen “how confidently Dortmund had followed suit despite the pressure in the last two weeks and had already decided games in their favour by three goals after a few minutes. “That does something to FC Bayern. I see BVB as champions.”

Record champions FC Bayern, who have a one-point lead and the better goal difference, face a tough task against third-placed RB Leipzig in Saturday night’s matchday 33. BVB must play FC Augsburg on Sunday.

Hamann sees Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel’s tenure so far as “mixed”. “Bayern’s best game came last week against Schalke 04, when he finally let Thomas Müller play,” the pundit wrote: “To be honest, I was confused above all by his statements. First in love with shock, then again perplexed and irritated. “
