“Sometimes you just don’t have the balls” – Müller settles the score with his teammates after 0:3

FC Bayern lost the Bundesliga top game 0:3 at Bayer Leverkusen. Thomas Müller spoke frankly afterwards.

Thomas Müller was deeply frustrated. FC Bayern lost the Bundesliga summit clash at Bayer Leverkusen 3-0, suffering a setback in the title race. The record champions are now five points behind the league leaders. And Müller strongly disagreed with the Munich team’s performance.

“What I, as one of the players, am missing, is why I’m saying it publicly: in training, we show significantly better approaches because we are more courageous and free,” said the 34-year-old, who was substituted after an hour, on Sky’s microphone. ”I sometimes lack the balls, we have a top-heavy approach to our game. Especially with the ball.”

Leverkusen, on the other hand, did it better. “They just gamble, play football and look for solutions,” Müller continued. However, Müller did not want to criticize Thomas Tuchel with his statements. “There were enough players of international class on the pitch. You don’t need to go to the coach at all,” said Müller when asked by Sky presenter Patrick Wasserziehr.

The tactical approach of the coach – Tuchel relied on a back five against Leverkusen – “worked quite well,” said Müller, with regard to the balanced opening phase. “What I’m talking about are decisions, especially with the ball, that has something to do with game intelligence, with independence.”

Tuchel agreed with Müller. “We had a whole week to prepare for this. We wanted to defend very offensively and not let Leverkusen get into their stride,” the coach said on Sky. “But we made some incredibly poor decisions. He’s right about a lot of things.”

Leverkusen – Bayern: Matthäus sees class difference The 50-year-old also emphasized that “it didn’t feel like a 0-3” and was combative about the race for the championship. “We’ll be damned if we throw in the towel. The gap is changing for us, but the approach is not. We have to get better.”

If it’s up to Lothar Matthäus, Leverkusen are the clear favorites for the title after their victory in the top game. “If they continue to play like this, there is no reason to doubt it. And there is no reason to doubt that they will continue to play like this. If anyone says otherwise, they know nothing about football,” said the Sky expert and 1990 World Cup winner. ‘It was a victory that was well deserved – a class difference at the highest level.’
