Spain are world champions after 1 : 0 against England

Spain has won the World Cup in Australia – in a thrilling match against the European champions from England. ESPENG

Spain won the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The Furia Roja beat the Lionesses, the European champions from England, 1 : 0 in a thrilling match. The Spanish women had never reached a World Cup final before.

Spain misses penalty
Shortly before the end of normal time, Alex Greenwood was on the ground for a long time after being hit on the head by Salma’s knee.

A handball in the 64th minute by Keira Walsh resulted in a penalty for Spain, which Jennifer Hermoso fired into the right corner of the goal but was saved by England keeper Mary Earps.

During the final, an incident occurred just before the first and only goal when a man wearing a T-shirt against Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and his war of aggression against Ukraine ran onto the pitch. “Stop Putler” was his message. The young man was taken away by security guards.
