The season of VfB Hilden has just ended successfully with the runner-up title in the Oberliga Niederrhein. But they are already working on the squad for 2023/24.
VfB Hilden ended a successful season in the Oberliga Niederrhein on Sunday. With a 4-0 win over 1. FC Kleve, coach Tim Schneider’s team secured second place in front of their home crowd. The vice-championship will be celebrated on Mallorca, as was revealed via social media. At the same time, the first information about the squad for the 2023/24 season was released.
VfB will have to cope with the departure of Luca Majetic. After a season in the Oberliga, the 20-year-old is making the move to the Regionalliga West. His move to the U23 of Fortuna Düsseldorf had been known for some time. With eleven goals and seven assists, the youngster has attracted attention in 32 games.
Gian-Luca Bühring and Manuel Schult will also leave the club. Bühring is leaving after only one season, presumably to FC Blau-Gelb Überruhr. Schulz will leave the club for work reasons and, depending on that, will lace up his football boots elsewhere in the future.
The coaching and support team of Tim Schneider, Frank Rekauzke, Björn Scheffels and Henry Schmidt will remain unchanged. Alongside captain Fabian Zur Linden, Maximilian Wagener, Nick Sangl and Talha Demir also signed up early on. The Oberliga club can now make firm plans for nine more players.
Bastian Sube, Yannic Lenze, Len Heinson, Marvin Brüggehoff, Robin Müller, Peter Schmetz, Tuncay Altuntas, Nils Gatzke and Patrick Percoco have all signed on. The club is close to signing Isaac Kang.
A total of eight players from the U19 Bundesliga team will take their first steps in senior football and train with the two men’s teams. During the summer preparations, individual decisions will be made as to which path the young players will take in the coming season.
