SSV Buer on the way to the Westfalenliga – “We are a small family”

Five teams are in a tight race for promotion to the Westfalenliga in Westphalia’s Landesliga Staffel 3. SSV Buer is right in the middle.

Westfalia Herne 41, SV Brackel 40, SSV Buer 38, Vestia Disteln 37 and YEG Hassel 36 points: In Westphalia’s Landesliga 3, five clubs are engaged in a highly interesting race for the championship and the associated promotion to the Westfalenliga.

Somewhat surprisingly, SSV Buer is also in the thick of the title fight. “We have a great team, a perfect mix of young and wild players as well as experienced guys like Kadir Mutluer,” says Damian Liedtke, one of head coach Misel Zec’s two assistant coaches alongside Göksel Maden.

Former BVB youth player Liedtke also emphasizes: “Göksel, Misel and I have also played at a relatively high level and know how the business works. We know what makes the players tick, what they want to hear at certain moments. We simply complement each other perfectly. We work as a collective, but everyone has their own job. I, for example, am the empathetic assistant coach and listen to everything the boys have on their minds. Empathy is my strength. I’m simply delighted to be able to work with people like this and this team here in Buer.”

Since Liedtke joined the coaching team at the beginning of November 2023, there have been five wins and two draws in seven matches. Liedtke with a twinkle in his eye: “It’s been going well since I’ve been here. “

The structures are great. We have a second team, an A and B youth team. That’s not a given these days. The infrastructure is also great

He adds: “Seriously, the team is doing a great job. We’ll see where our path takes us in the end. Anyone who knows me knows that I always want the maximum. When you’re up there with eleven matchdays to go, you naturally want to fight for the title right to the end. “

The Westfalenliga would be the next step for SSV Buer. If this leap in the league really is successful, the 38-year-old Liedtke believes the club is well positioned. He says: “The structures are great. We have a second team, an A and B youth team. That’s not a given these days. The infrastructure is also good.” The only thing that matters now is to come out on top in the title pentathlon
