KFC Uerdingen is spending the winter break six points behind leaders Germania Ratingen 04/19. Coach Julian Stöhr believes this is a good starting position for the second half of the season.
Third place after 17 games with 29 points: KFC Uerdingen is looking back positively on the first half of the Oberliga Niederrhein season.
On January 5, 2026, KFC coach Julian Stöhr will ask his players to get ready for action. In addition to the Krefeld Indoor City Championship on the weekend of January 3 and 4, three test matches are also on the preparation schedule.
Against TSG Sprockhövel (January 9, 7:30 p.m., A), SSVg Velbert (January 11, 3 p.m., H) and Westfalia Rhynern (January 25, 3 p.m., H). There is also a tournament at DJK TuS Hordel on January 17/18. Julian Stöhr, how would you assess your team’s first half of the season? Let me put it this way: If someone had told me before the season, given the circumstances, that we would be in third place after this new start and only six points behind the leaders, I would have signed up for that. We are right on target with the club’s goal of finishing in the top third. Even though we could certainly have picked up up to five more points based on how the games went. What has been the highlight for you so far?
There have been a few: the 6-1 win against Biemenhorst, the cup game against the then leaders of the 3rd division, MSV Duisburg, in front of 9,500 spectators at the Grotenburg, including a strong performance from us. But one of the really great moments was the 1-0 home win against Spielvereinigung Schonnebeck.
And what was the most negative experience?
Quite clearly: the defeat in Homberg. After the red card, we fell apart at 0-0 and deserved to lose.
Will there be any changes to the squad during the winter break?
Yes, minor adjustments will be made, but nothing earth-shattering. Kingsley Marcinek, for example, is leaving us to join SV Schermbeck. What is your goal for the rest of the season? We want to continue to develop the team, which has become increasingly apparent in recent games. Ideally, we want to remain in the top third of the table.
