Nico Schlotterbeck had to be substituted during the international match of the DFB team. This is the status of the Borussia Dortmund defender.
Borussia Dortmund must have heard these pictures with concern: A week before the Bundesliga top match against FC Bayern, BVB defender Nico Schlotterbeck was substituted in the German national team’s match against Peru (2:0) with a bandage on his left thigh.
But the 23-year-old will probably not have to take a break due to injury. National coach Hansi Flick gave the all-clear on Saturday evening: “The doctor has signalled that everything is fine.”
The important clash with FC Bayern next Saturday (1 April, 6.30 p.m.), which Dortmund will enter as league leaders with a one-point lead, is therefore not in danger.
And Flick is already planning with Schlotterbeck again on Tuesday. The acid test against the Belgian national team is scheduled for then (8.45 p.m.). Belgium started their European Championship qualifying campaign on Friday evening with a commanding 3-0 win in Sweden. Star striker Romelu Lukaku scored a treble. (with RS)
