Engin Yavuzaslan celebrated a successful debut as coach of SG Wattenscheid 09. The Oberliga team won the district cup in style.
Three days after signing his contract with SG Wattenscheid 09, Engin Yavuzaslan celebrated his first victory as coach of the traditional club.
In the second round of the Bochum District Cup, the SGW won 3-0 against A-League side Schwarz-Weiß Eppendorf.
The spectators had to wait for goals until shortly before half-time. Then Marco Cirillo converted a penalty to take the lead (40th). Felix Casalino had been fouled earlier. In the second half, Cirillo scored a brace with a long-range shot (56th), before Jamal El Mansoury scored the final goal shortly before the end (88th).
After their successful debut, Yavuzaslan and his team will face a much bigger challenge next Sunday. TSG Sprockhövel will come to the Lohrheide for the eighth Oberliga matchday (3 pm, RS-Liveticker).
“That’s a strong team that is physically brutal,” warned the coach, who already met TSG this season with his former club SpVgg Vreden (1-1). “It will definitely be a tough game. But with the support of the fans, we want to get our first home win this season.”
Wiemelhausen shoots down A-league team
Concordia Wiemelhausen, the leaders of the Westfalenliga 2, were also in action in the Bochum Kreispokal on Thursday evening. And coach Carsten Droll’s team showed no mercy to the A-Ligisten TuS Kaltehardt. The final score was 17:0, 8:0 already at half-time.
Tim Wasserloos and Leon Franke were the most successful Wiemelhausen scorers – they each scored five goals. In addition, Rene Michen (3), Lennart Decker, Atakan Uzunbas and Patrick Sacher were successful in advancing to the next round.
