This comes as a surprise. Borussia Dortmund has suspended one of its best youth players for the time being.
This news comes as a surprise: Borussia Dortmund has suspended U19 striker Paris Brunner for disciplinary reasons. The youth player will not take part in BVB’s matches until further notice.
Borussia Dortmund addressed the public with the two sentences. There was no explanation why the great talent was punished. Brunner is actually considered the next top striker at BVB.
With his rate, he is reminiscent of Youssoufa Moukoko. This season, he scored ten goals in seven games for BVB’s U19 team. He also scored once in two games in the UEFA Youth League. For the U17 national team, he was successful 15 times in 18 international matches.
Most recently, Brunner was also rewarded with the Fritz Walter Medal in gold for the 2006 vintage. During the U17 Juniors’ European Championship title win in Hungary, Brunner was named the tournament’s best player.
Most recently, Brunner, who took an average of just 34 minutes to score in the last U17 Bundesliga West season (16 goals in six games), stressed to RS: “I have a certain leadership role. While I’m not a veteran, I’d be nice to say that I carry the team along a bit. My strength and robustness help me do that.”
Now he has to take a break for the time being: Both in the fight for the U19 championship and also in the Youth League. And with that, he can’t do what he loves to do most.
To RS he explained in August 2023: “I was born as a striker. That’s just where I feel comfortable up front.”
Looking ahead to the season, he revealed, “I know a lot of the guys who have joined the team now because I played with them in the B-youth. The team has a lot of potential, maybe we can go even further than last year.”
Whereby BVB also needs its goals for this goal, but for now it is offside. At the moment, we can only speculate about the reasons.
