Two Regionalliga relegation candidates, two worlds on Wednesday. While SV Lippstadt are hopeful, Rot Weiss Ahlen suffered a home debacle.
SV Lippstadt bounced back in the Regionalliga West, while Rot Weiss Ahlen suffered a bitter home defeat. An overview of the two catch-up games from Wednesday.
SV Lippstadt – FC Wegberg-Beeck 2:1
SV Lippstadt are the team of the moment in the Regionalliga basement. In the relegation duel against FC Wegberg-Beeck, they scored their second three-pointer in a row. SVL are now back in the mix and can dream of staying up.
Rot Weiss Ahlen were overtaken in the table after the 2:1 (1:1). Lippstadt are now within one point of Wegberg, with the first non-relegation place just two points away. Things looked very different a few weeks ago.
The man of the day was Viktor Maier, who scored the 1:0 and the 2:1 from a penalty kick. Wegberg-Beeck equalized shortly before the break.
SV Lippstadt continue their campaign on Saturday (2 p.m.) with a home match against 1. FC Bocholt. Wegberg-Beeck play at home against FC Schalke 04 U23 at the same time.
Rot Weiss Ahlen – SV Rödinghausen 1:5
Rot Weiss Ahlen could have moved to within one place of the non-relegation places in the Regionalliga, but ended up with their fourth defeat in a row. Against SV Rödinghausen, Ahlen trailed almost from the start.
The visitors took an early lead through Simon Engelmann (2′) and increased it to 1:2 after just eight minutes through Ramien Safi. Kevin Coleman was able to reduce the deficit after around 30 minutes, but Mattis Rohlfing restored the two-goal advantage for the visitors before the break.
After the changeover, it was attacker Engelmann again who put the lid on the game with his second goal. And Engelmann was allowed to celebrate a third time, Rödinghausen went one better with the 5:1. Amazingly, it was only Engelmann’s second to fourth goals of the season.
Rot Weiss Ahlen continue their campaign on Saturday with an away match at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen (2 p.m.). SV Rödinghausen play at the same time at the U21s of 1. FC Köln
