SV Schermbeck signs player with 79 regional league appearances – goalkeeper leaves

SV Schermbeck is fighting relegation in the Oberliga Westfalen. There will be some personnel changes for the second half of the season.

SV Schermbeck has had a weak season in the Oberliga Westfalen so far. With 15 points from 18 games, Schermbeck is just three points above the relegation zone. Coach Engin Yavuzaslan and sporting director Markus Falkenstein are working on some squad changes. “Kingsley will also help us immediately with his qualities. We are delighted that this signing has gone through and are simply hoping for a better second half of the season,” says Falkenstein. Marcinek is the next signing after Tolga Özdemir (VfL Bochum II). 28 goals and ten assists in 59 appearances for SV Schermbeck – these are Tolga Özdemir’s statistics. The striker left Schermbeck in the summer of 2024. After spells at Sportfreunde Lotte (26 games, six goals, seven assists) and VfL Bochum II (43, 4, 7), the 23-year-old is returning to Schermbeck on January 1, 2026.

“Tolga is a strong finisher and a determined striker who fits in perfectly with us and will help us immediately. I am of course very pleased that we have managed to persuade Tolga to return. He also knows some of the guys from the team. He fits in perfectly with our footballing philosophy,” Falkenstein told Forecasting.

Meanwhile, there is also a departure to report in Schermbeck with Sebastian Speen, who has been in goal for SV Schermbeck since the 2023/24 season. Sebastian Speen? He is probably better known to many as Sebastian Wickl. “I took my wife’s name,” explains the 105-time regional league goalkeeper.

Falkenstein explains the departure: “Sebastian lives in Mülheim and works in Düsseldorf. Now he’s about to become a dad. He can no longer juggle Oberliga soccer in Schermbeck with that. There are more important things than soccer. It is with a heavy heart that we are granting Sebastian’s wish. As a person and with his experience, he would be very important to us. But, once again, family comes first.“

The 34-year-old keeper Speen would like to continue playing in the Lower Rhine region. ”Yes, I’m looking for a club that’s closer to Mülheim an der Ruhr. I’m open to all offers and discussions,” the former Sebastian Wickl told Forecasting.
