SVWW complies with player’s wish – ex-Duisburg player moves abroad

Shortly before the end of the transfer window in Turkey, SV Wehen Wiesbaden have complied with a transfer request from one of their players.

SV Wehen Wiesbaden and Mehmet Kurt have agreed on an immediate termination of the contract, which still runs until 30 June 2023. The defensive midfielder will move to Sanliurfaspor in the Turkish third division.

“Due to our squad width, it would have been difficult for Mehmet to get regular playing time in his position with us this season. For this reason, we have complied with his request to transfer,” explained Nico Schäfer, spokesman for the SVWW management. “We thank him for his commitment and wish him all the best in his new sporting challenge and for his private future.”

The 26-year-old joined SVWW from Verl at the beginning of the pre-season and played 27 competitive games for the red-and-black team.

Born in Hagen, he played in youth for clubs such as SG Boelerheide, SSV Hagen, SG Wattenscheid 09 (-2011), MSV Duisburg (2011-2013) and Borussia Dortmund (2013-2015). As a professional he was under contract with Lüneburger SK, Sportfreunde Siegen, 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn, SC Verl and SV Wehen Wiesbaden.
